SODEC Conducts 3-Day Compost Manure Training in Sankhuwasabha

Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality and SODEC jointly organized a three-day Compost Manure Training program aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices among local farmers. The training was conducted with the participation of 30 lead farmers actively engaged in coffee and macadamia nut cultivation.

The primary objective of the training was to enhance farmers’ skills and knowledge in preparing organic manure using locally available resources. Through practical demonstrations and interactive sessions, participants learned the process of converting organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, an essential component for improving soil fertility and long-term agricultural productivity.

Composting plays a vital role in sustainable farming as it enriches soil with essential nutrients, improves soil structure, and supports better water retention, ultimately leading to healthier crops and reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers .

At the conclusion of the training, each participant was provided with three plastic drums of 50-liter capacity to support the preparation of liquid organic manure at the household level. This initiative is expected to encourage farmers to adopt eco-friendly farming practices and enhance productivity in coffee and macadamia farming systems.

SODEC remains committed to empowering local farmers through capacity-building programs and promoting environmentally sustainable agriculture in rural communities.
